The British Columbia Technical and Research Committee on Reclamation presents – B.C.’s 36th Annual Mine Reclamation Symposium.

AGENDA

Monday September 17: Grassland Tour (Limited to 50 participants)

Led by Wendy Gardener of Thompson River University, this is a full-day tour (9:00 – 4:00) starting with a tour of the Lac du Bois grasslands. Using the elevation gradient, we will stop at lower, middle and upper grasslands and discuss restoration of these grassland areas. Monday September 17: Symposium Registration/Wine and Cheese Reception

Registration all day with an evening social in the conference centre.

Tuesday September 18: Samatosum Mine Tour (maximum of 112 participants)

Brent Hamblin and crew from INMET will lead a full day tour of the reclaimed Samatosum Mine. Click Here for the 2012 TRCR Samatosum Itinerary Starting at 7:15 a.m. with a continental breakfast and a PowerPoint overview at the conference centre, the tour will start at Johnson Lake fish spillway and spawning channel, continue for a 4.5 hr tour of the mine site, depart to the Adams River spawning grounds before finishing with a dinner at Quaaout Lodge. Return to convention centre around 9:00 pm.

Tuesday September 18: Towards Sustainable Mining Workshop

Ben Chalmers, Mining Association of Canada, and Angela Waterman, Mining Association of BC will host this workshop at the Conference Centre from 9:00 – 4:00. Participants will gain an understanding of the TSM initiative, (including its objectives, history, accomplishments and future priorities), how to apply the assessment protocol and understand the external verification process. Wednesday, September 19: Day 1 Technical Session

Full day of paper and poster presentations on a wide range of reclamation issues.

Wednesday, September 19: Reclamation Awards Banquet

Evening of great food, camaraderie and reclamation recognition.

Thursday September 20: Day 2 Technical Session

Full day of paper and poster presentations on a wide range of reclamation issues.
