On Wednesday, June 13th, from 5-7pm, the centre will host an opening reception in the Charlotte Glencross Gallery, of the exhibition, Honouring the Spirit of Sagatay. This impressive exhibition, as part of our Aboriginal Artists' Conference, will feature the work of over a dozen aboriginal artists from various First Nation communities around the province, including Tobique First Nation, Indian Island First Nation, Elsipogtog First Nation, Saint Mary’s First Nation, Metepenagiag First Nation and more. Artists include Dozay Christmas, Audrey Sanipass, Pauline Young, Tara Francis, Sally Brooks, Ingrid Brooks, Sheila McKinley, Gina Brooks, Percy Sacobie, Theresa Lightfoot and more.

Works in the exhibition represent both traditional and contemporary approaches to expression of identity, language, myth and environment - the cornerstones of culture. Included will be basketry, quillwork, paintings, jewelry, masks, lithographs, statues, silk batiks, mocassins and much more.

Take in the inspiring opening speech, "Arts Development Across the Nation", by Louise Profeit-LeBlanc from the Canada Council for the Arts, the major funder for the conference and exhibition. While you're there, you can also high-five Mayor Brad Woodside, who will be in attendance, for the City of Fredericton's support for our Aboriginal Artists' Conference.

The opening reception will also feature beer tastings by our gracious sponsors, Picaroons Traditional Ales, and live music by the CSAC house band, the Esquire Trio. ALL ARE WELCOME to attend!
