The Council of Saik’uz First Nation wishes to be strategic in their approach to the future well being of their community. They engaged the services of R. Radloff and Associates and the Local Government Leadership Institute to facilitate a strategic planning process.
Chawathil First Nation Alternative Energy project or the Chawathil First Nation Strategic Energy Plan
The Chawathil First Nation have lived in and sustainably utilized the natural resources within its traditional territories since time immemorial. The Chawathil First Nation has an opportunity to assert their natural role as the stewards of their traditional territories by becoming leaders in the development of clean renewable energy.
Based on observations by Mackenzie Forest District staff, First Nation Non-
Replaceable Forest License (NRFL) holders were identified as a customer
segment that was at risk of not meeting the expectations of the intent of the
tenure agreement. The District’s service plan thus included a project that
