Reconciliation Pole Is a Symbol of Progress

The University of British Columbia Reconciliation Pole was designed by artist James Hart, a hereditary chief and member of the Haida Nation, and placed into a standing position during a ceremony on April 1. The pole symbolizes the history of residential schools and moving forward to deal with that history in a positive way.
