Senior First Nations Relations Advisor
$72,724.97 - $83,014.85 annually

The Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development is responsible for the stewardship of provincial Crown land and ensures the sustainable management of forest, wildlife, water and other land-based resources.

The Senior Advisor, First Nations Relations conducts and provides leadership to First Nations consultation in the Northeast region. This role leads and supervises consultation staff in the implementation of consultation policy and ratified agreements to ensure consultation occurs in a legally defensible manner. This work includes facilitating meetings and correspondence, building relationships with regional First nations, advising ministry and industry on consultation requirements and providing recommendations to statutory decision makers on how these projects and initiatives should proceed with respect to First Nations rights and interests.

Qualifications for this role include:

• Bachelor’s Degree in natural resource management, public administration, business administration, law or other relevant discipline and minimum 3 years of related experience; OR Master’s Degree in in natural resource management, public administration, business administration, law or other relevant discipline and minimum 1 year of related experience.
• An equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered.
• Experience conducting research and analysis related to land use, resource management, social or economic development issues.
