An Indigenous language renaissance is happening in Canada, but advocates say more must be done to save the 34 endangered Indigenous languages in BC. The First Peoples' Cultural Council would like for all of them to be recognized as official languages. While no move has been made by the BC government to make the languages official, Minister of Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation Scott Fraser pointed out that the government has committed $50 million to Indigenous languages over the next three years.
