Two First Nations leaders representing the Fraser Valley's Sto:lo Tribal Council expressed concerns to the National Energy Board about the potential impacts of an expanded Trans Mountain pipeline. The First Nations leaders want to see justification for the pipeline expansion project. The Sto:lo believe it is their eternal responsiblity to protect the Fraser River and its salmon, and they believe the pipelines poses a risk to their homes and culture.
