British Columbia has 48 certified teachers working at a school in Qatar. Five neighboring countries imposed sanctions on Qatar and restricted all modes of transportation into that country. This has made travel difficult and food supplies scarce. The Hayat Universal Bilingual School in Doha has been certified by British Columbia as part of its offshore program. British Columbia officials are being silent about the status of the teachers until after the election.
