Canada's Indigenous Rights Framework Proposed

The Assembly of First Nations has expressed opposition to the federal government’s proposed “Rights, Recognition, and Implementation Framework.” Three of their concerns include the lack of a role for the provinces and territories, requiring self-governing First Nations to be recognized by the federal government, and non-committal language used to recognize Indigenous jurisdiction.
