Deadline for Submissions is Friday February 20, 2014 at 12:00 p.m.

Amma Sah!  You are invited to submit a presentation for the Indigenous Knowledge Sharing Conference on Cultural Competency – this invitation is extended out to Indigenous men, women, Elders, Spiritual leaders, Scholars, Researchers, Policy and Practitioners, Teachers, Administrators, Knowledge holders and leaders.

Date of Conference:               April 28 & 29, 2014
Location:                                 Coast Salish Territory, Victoria BC.

Themes / Focus Areas:           

  • Services for Indigenous People and Communities
    Approaches and emerging issues in providing Culturally Safe and Culturally Competent people, programs and services for Indigenous people in areas of health, education, child & family, early years and justice.

  • Indigenous Community Engagement
    Approaches and emerging issues in engagement, relationships, partnerships, and consultations in working with Indigenous people.

  • Strengthening Indigenous People and Communities
    Culturally-based focusing on building the competencies of Indigenous people including but not limited to decolonization, revitalization, ending lateral violence, healing, etc.

The Conference aims to provide opportunity for dialogue, knowledge sharing, conversation and discussion about the important topic of cultural competencies and cultural safety.  The Conference seeks dynamic, innovative and ground breaking training programs, workshops, services, projects, research including thesis and doctoral dissertations.

Keynote Speaker for this conference is Dr. Lee Brown, Vancouver, B.C.

Presentation Options:

  1. Panel -  maximum of 3 people, 90 minutes in length

  2. Presentation – maximum of 2 people, 90 minutes in length

  3. Workshop – maximum 2 people, 90 minutes

Accepted Submissions:

  1. Presenters can confirm/accept offer to present on or before February 21, 2014.

  2. Presenters of accepted submissions are required to pay for their own travel and accommodation.

  3. Each accepted Presenter/Panelist is required to register for the conference $200.00
    (regular rate $575).   Note: Fee Waived for 1st Presenter
