Families of missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls (MMIWG) are demanding answers after the resignation of commissioner Marilyn Poitras from the national inquiry. Indigenous and Northern Affairs Minister Carolyn Bennett stated that communication is an issue for the commission, but the government is limited on ways to intervene because the commission is an independent entity.
