Changes are being proposedĀ o the First Nations Land Management Act and the First Nations Fiscal Management Act. The changes would allow First Nations to have access to their own money rather than relying on the federal government to sign leases, permits, and licenses on behalf of First Nation. Currently, the money largely sits idle, but changes would allow funds to be used for housing, infrastructure, schools, and other public works.
