The Huu-ay-aht First Nation on Vancouver Island has accepted the financial help of Steelhead LNG to restore the Sarita River Watershed. The restoration of the watershed will bring an important salmon resource back to the Huu-ay-aht. Commercial fishing and logging contributed to the deterioration of the Sarita River watershed. The Huu-ay-aht restoration program includes the Sarita and Pachena watershed ecosystems. Eventually, other watersheds within the h?ahuu?i (chiefly territories) will be restored as well.
