Indigenous Rights Framework Will Not Be in Place by 2020 Elections

Indigenous rights recognition legislation will not be in place before the next federal election. The government has not completed a draft of the framework yet. The proposed framework has been met with a lack of support and confusion from many First Nations. Crown-Indigenous Relations Minister Carolyn Bennett will continue to hold engagement sessions on the framework with First Nations across the country.
