Indigenous Sign Language is on the verge of extinction as American Sign Language becomes the standard. For the most part, Indigenous communities are not able to provide the resources deaf children need, including someone to teach sign language. Deaf First Nation individuals have an opportunity to participate in the community and connect with their Indigenous spoken language by learning Indigenous Sign Language.
