Crown-Indigenous Relations Minister Carolyn Bennett has rejected another extension for the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG) inquiry. Bennett granted a six-month extension so that the inquiry could finish the last of its public material-gathering sessions and submit a final report, which is expected in April 2019. Some have accused the government of trying to make sure the report is finished in time for the fall elections.
