Residential school artifacts including a braid, a child's shoe, and a brick will be included in a new textbook for middle school students. These artIfacts were originally gathered by Carey Newman, a Kwalgiulth carver and artist, who created the Witness Blanket project as a physical way to tell the stories of the residential school survivors. Chapters in the textbook are based on items in the Witness Blanket project.
