A new report has criticized the Thunder Bay Police Service, stating that systemic racism contributed to poor investigations of Indigenous deaths. The report, released by Ontario's Independent Police Review Director Gerry McNeilly and his office, has recommended that investigations into 9 Indigenous deaths be reopened. The group found that racism was institutional and led to a failure to conduct adequate investigations when Indigenous people were victims.
