The development of new programs in school which include Indigenous languages has led to an increase in the demand for teachers who are fluent in Indigenous languages. The number of Indigenous language speakers has decreased, leading to a shortage of certified teachers who can speak Indigenous languages. To bridge this gap, some schools are using limited teaching permits, which allow someone without an education degree to teach.
