Report: Okiciyab Final Report 2006: Promoting Best Practices - First Nations Development Institute

Resource Description:

First Peoples Worldwide (FPW) was initiated in 1997 in response the overwhelminginternational request from Indigenous Peoples for the type of effective and culturally appropriate community development First Nations Development Institute (FNDI) had been providing domestically for twenty-five years.
FPW’s programs have been grounded in the belief that assets are the building blocks of wealth and that
Indigenous Peoples own substantial assets but lack the asset control necessary tobenefit from them. FPW also believes that successful economic development is a holistic process which does not solely rely on financial assets but takes into account political, social and cultural variables of a community.
