As more people look for authenticity, Indigenous-owned businesses in BC experience record-breaking numbers of tourists. Currently, there are 401 Indigenous tourism businesses in B.C. which create 7,400 full-time jobs.
In recent years, tourists have shown increased interest in learning about Indigenous people and their cultures and traditions. The tourism business provides opportunities for Indigenous people to make a living as well as educate others.
